Caroline “Sue” Bemis, 66, returned to her heavenly home on September 1, 2015 after a valiant battle with Cancer. Sue passed away quietly at home surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born to the late Vermon Geralds and Hazel Strode, in Tompkinsville, KY on December 30, 1948. Sue was raised by her father Claude Strode and mother Hazel Strode in Clayton, Indiana for most of her life.
Sue was blessed with a large and loving family. She married the love of her life, Gordon W. Bemis, on June 22, 1975 in Clayton, Indiana. Sue worked over the years as a truck driver and most recently in the security business. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and traveling with her family.
Sue is survived by her husband, Gordon; her brothers Mike Strode (Norma), Gary Strode (Brenda), Tim Strode (Gail), Robbie Strode, Vermon Geralds, and Danny Geralds (Dee); her sisters Margie Smith (David), Vicki White (Jake), Virginia Keith (Larry), and Ronna Lawrence (Donald); Sister-in-law Shirley Kleinlein (Bruce); her sons Denny Bemis (Cindy), Brett Bemis (Dawn), and Scott Bemis (Donna); her daughters Tammy Gilliam (Tom), Krystal Roan (Roger), Kay Mathewson (Rick) and Kathy Stambaugh (Todd); and her 18 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother Hazel Strode, her father Claude Strode, her father Vermon Geralds, and sister Debbie Strode
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lambert Park in Clayton, Indiana on Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 1:00pm-5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
